In the mid 80'es, with the increasing spread of HIV among children in developing countries, the World Health Organization approached manufacturers of standard syringes to develop a so-called autodisable syringe - a syringe for immunization, which would render itself un-usable after one injection. In 1989, the founder of DestroJect, Mr. M. Bader, applied for a patent for such a syringe, and in 1990 the syringe was field-tested in Pakistan, laboratory tested in Sweden, and shortly thereafter, the DestroJect syringe received the WHO approval as the first autodestruct syringe in the world. During the past 10 years, we have supplied our product to the international aid organizations.
